Directed by Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) and starring some of Hollywood's hottest talent, Warner Bros.'s upcoming superhero drama is a whole new take on the World's Greatest Detective. Similar to – but not connected to – this year's Joker origin story, 'The Batman' stars Robert Pattinson in the lead role and will be a standalone film.

The film has released an entire scene online which shows a funeral procession suddenly being hit by a car in one of the Riddler's stories.

The film's running time is two hours 55 minutes, including eight minutes of credits.

'The Batman' has been given a PG-13 rating by the Motion Picture Association.

Warner Bros. has shared new photos that include close-up shots of Paul Dano's Riddler and Colin Farrell's Penguin, as well as some behind-the-scenes shots.

Producer Dylan Clark has said that he has directly told Christopher Nolan that he is trying to "beat" The Dark Knight Trilogy with The Batman.

Zoë Kravitz has said that she wants to make Catwoman seem like a "real person".

Colin Farrell says that he has very little screen time as the Penguin in the film. Director Matt Reeves has confirmed that shooting of the film was completed in mid-March 2021, which is a year before its release date.

When will 'The Batman' hit theaters?

The Batman is scheduled to be released in US theaters on March 4, 2022. Its original release date was June 25, 2021, which has been pushed first to October 2021 and now to next year due to the delay caused by Corona virus.


A UK release date has yet to be confirmed - but it has been confirmed that production will resume in September 2020, provided shooting takes place on purpose-built sets and not on location, as was the case before the global lockdown.
